How does the
Finder Feature work?

The Finder Feature can be accessed through the new 4iiii App and will allow you to locate your powermeter using the Chipolo network. A rider’s powermeter will continually broadcast out “pings” (when powered on or asleep) which can be received by any smartphone using the Chipolo or 4iiiiApp. When a smartphone receives this ping, it will send its current location to the Chipolo network, letting the rider know this last known location. In the event the rider loses, or has their powermeter stolen, they can mark it as “lost” in the 4iiii App. When one of the pings of the lost powermeter are heard by the Chipolo network, this location will be updated on the 4iiii App to help the rider locate their powermeter.

How do I set it up?

To use the new finder feature, you simply need a 4iiii PRECISION or Podiiiium Powermeter and an iOS smartphone. If you purchase a new powermeter, it will already come loaded with the firmware including the obvıous. platform which helps run the finder feature. If you already own a 4iiiiPowermeter, you will be prompted for a firmware update (the update will go live April 10). Once your firmware is up to date, you are ready to search for your powermeter!

Using an iOS phone, you can download the new 4iiii app or update your old app. After downloading, you will be prompted to create a 4iiii Account or login with your existing account. Once this is set up:

  1. Connect your 4iiii Powermeter to the 4iiii app. If prompted, perform a firmware update on the powermeter.
  2. Once connected, click on the powermeter to access the options. You can then click on “Upgradeable Features” which will bring you to the store where you can purchase features using the obvıous. platform.
  3. Click on CHIPOLO_PLATFORM and accept the User Agreement. You’ll now be ready to go!

Once set up, you can access the finder feature using the map tab on the bottom of the 4iiii app display. You can see the last known location of your device and once you mark it as lost, you will get updates with time stamps of where the powermeter has been located.
